This is a classic pub walking adventure weekend in one of Lakeland’s most popular and iconic valleys, with a few wild dips to start our days.
The Langdale Pub Crawl which you will do on the Saturday is a Cumbrian institution, drawing together six great pubs, with roaring fires and a breathtaking five-mile walk.
The pub walking adventure is a fairly laid back adventure in terms of rugged terrain, however, you will experience several different terrain types that include open farmland, urban walkways, roads, and woodlands.
On the Friday you will start your adventure with a short 2 mile walk from Elterwater to Skelwith where you’ll end in the Talbot bar. This traditional Lakeland country bar has a roaring fire and lovely cosy vibe. They serve
Jennings ales, also Lakeland Bedrock gin, Lakes vodka & whiskies from The Lakes Distillery.
On Friday evening we will gather at the hostel for a group dinner (included in price), followed by an early night or nightcap at the local pub – The Brittania inn.
Saturday morning will start with an early morning cold water dip in Rydal water, followed by a healthy breakfast (included in price). We’ll head out late morning to start our 5 mile Langdale valley pub walk.
This walk is an amazing experience in the Lake District because it caters to a wide variety of people and gets them out exploring nature. To many walkers, the highlight of the adventure may well be visiting each of the five pubs that can be found along the trail, and to others it may be visiting historical sights or simply taking in the picturesque views along the valley floor. There is so much to do and see on this route.
On Saturday night we’ll head out to the Badger bar for dinner (not include in price), a tradional inn dating back to 1664. This quaint old pub is exactly how you would imagine it, with log fires, wonky floors, and wonky walls with table and chairs that sit at their own unique angles, as do some of the more mature gents sipping pints at the bar.
On Sunday we’ll start with a group dip in the beautiful Rydal water, followed by breakfast (included in price).
Before we head home to catch our ferry, we’ll take a short visit the stunning little hut (also known as the Grot) overlooking Rydal waterfall. It’s the perfect photograph spot.
We have hired the lovely privately owned elterwater hostel, and have sole use for our entire weekend. The elterwater hostel was Winner of a Bronze Award in the Great Outdoors Magazine Readers’ Awards 2021
